The tree has an attractive shape and may attain a height of 20 metres.

It has a round-shaped crown, dense with branches and leaves.

Flowers
|
|
Flowers are grouped in panicles. Length of a bunch of flowers are about 15 - 35 cm long. Flowers are small, white in colour and scented.

Fruits

The fruits are round, up to 2 cm in diameter. The pale brownish skin is rough and tough. The flesh is translucent whitish and sweet. The amount of flesh varies a great deal; in very good variety it may be 0.5cm thick.

|
All over Indo-China and Malesia, greatest variation found in Borneo. Mata kuching is native to this part of the world and wild trees are found in the forests of Malaysia, Sumatera and Sulawesi. It is usually cultivated in orchards in almost the whole of Malaysia especially in Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Pahang.
